A physical therapist assistant has the job to help physical therapists to provide treatment for patients that have troubles with mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or lessen physical disabilities of patients. The assistant for example can teach a patient how to use crutches, for those who have suffered an accident, for those who have fractures, lower-back pain, arthritis etc. These physical therapist assistants take care of the patients, give them their medicines, under the close supervision of the physical therapist. As an assistant, he has to record all the changes in a patients treatment and discuss them with the doctor/therapist.



American physical therapist assistant accredited programs are the best in the world. Some States require licensure or registration in order to work as a physical therapist assistant. These States have specific examination. Also other requirements are first aid and a number of hours of experience in the field. A physical therapist assistant has to be well-organized and caring. Is required for an assistant to have communication skills and the desire to help people. Because they interact with so many patients, being gentle and kind is very important. Most physical therapist assistants earn their degree from an accredited physical therapist assistant program. In the United states only in 2006 there were accredited 233 physical assistant programs, says the American Physical Therapy Association. These American physical therapist assistant accredited programs are divided in two parts : first is academic study meaning algebra anatomy, physiology, biology and chemistry, and the second was all about practice in a clinic.

Because there are more and more people with problems in mobility especially elder people, the number of physical therapist assistants grow more and more. Old people need therapeutic services and assistance at any time. This job is for people who love to help other people. It`s a hard job that might sometimes keep you more than 12 hours at work. Usually people that work as physical therapist assistant have a part time program, and they change shifts constantly. But one that takes his job seriously might have much more to work. To advance in this area of expertise one needs to take a lot of other classes. The idea is to settle on something and learn much more things about that. For example to become a physical therapist, you need years of practice and learning, after taking an example you will get the licence. Otherwise , being promoted in this job as a physical therapist assistant, can only mean being promoted to  a chief assistant above all other assistants. A step closer to a real doctor.

As a conclusion being an assistant of any kind is much more hard than being the real doctor. You take all the effort, you take care of all the patients and slowly you learn many things. Practicing is the best way to learn a job. Nothing compares with the real thing. So American physical therapist assistant accredited programs can transform those who are really eager to start a career in this area into great physical therapist assistants.
